Can you donate blood with Hyperglycemia (High Blood Sugar)?
---------------------------------------------------
Yes you can donate blood with Hyperglycemia...the blood is always tested and checked these days......the only time you can't donate blood is if you have anemia, AIDS, hepaitis, heart disease, cancer (except for skin cancer), severe asthma, malaria, bleeding disorders, low blood pressure, recent major surgery, poorly high blood pressure, or the use or certain drugs. You donate blood for the red blood cells not the glucose.......I think it is a good thing to help people in need.
Most programs do allow us to donate as well as those who are healthy.
Just because you are diabetic, doesn't mean you can't donate any more.
They used to limit diabetics who were taking "animal source insulin" but since we don't take that any more, it isn't a limitation.
There are some healthy people who are not able to donate, however!! Those military families who lived in some European countries in the past 10 years cannot donate.
Fill out the health form, donate and be happy!!!
